A monumental natural cross-section of Yakusugi (Japanese Cedar from Yakushima Island), selected for its exceptional condition, beautiful grain, and remarkably well-preserved structure.

Large Yakusugi pieces of this scale have become increasingly difficult to obtain. This example displays a striking balance of natural character and practical usability, making it suitable both as a functional centerpiece and as an architectural statement.

Rather than a piece of furniture, it is best regarded as a singular natural object shaped over centuries.

History of Ownership

This Yakusugi slab served as a low table in my home for many years and has been carefully preserved in a dry indoor environment.

On occasion, I also used it as a work surface while maintaining and appreciating traditionally made Japanese swords. The accompanying photographs are included simply as part of its history of use.

使用・保管履歴

長年、自宅和室の座卓として使用していました。
